Join Me in Supporting QWOCMAP's Film Resistance

I'm fundraising for QWOCMAP because I believe in the power of film as a tool for resistance and liberation.

In a world where legislation increasingly targets LGBTQ+ communities and censors the stories of queer and trans people of color, QWOCMAP stands firm in their commitment to democratizing filmmaking—historically art's most expensive medium.

Recently, QWOCMAP $500,000 in already awarded funding was abruptly taken away, which would have supported their Critical Juncture program for Black queer and trans filmmakers and their QTWork Apprenticeship program. As someone who believes in the power of storytelling to change hearts and minds, I'm stepping up to help fill this gap.

What Your Support Does:

  • Funds free filmmaker training programs for communities systematically excluded from filmmaking
  • Ensures livable compensation for the QWOCMAP team and program participants
  • Maintains comprehensive accessibility services including ASL, captions, and audio description
  • Preserves and distributes films that document our communities' struggles, triumphs, and visions

Will you join me in becoming a Producer in this resistance? Together, we can help protect QTBIPOC stories at a time when they're actively being erased

ABOUT 2025 Producers Circle

Film As Resistance: Join the Producers Circle for the Producers Circle

Become a Producer Today

When legislation targets QTBIPOC lives, experiences, and stories, film becomes our most powerful tool of resistance.

For 25 years, QWOCMAP has transformed filmmaking—historically art's most expensive medium—into a tool for liberation. No other organization combines free filmmaker training, exhibition, and distribution specifically for LBTQIA+ BIPOC creators with a deep commitment to disability justice and accessibility.

We recently lost $500,000 in already awarded funding that would have supported our Critical Juncture program for Black queer and trans filmmakers and our QTWork Apprenticeship program. As arts funding is dismantled at all levels and corporations retreat from supporting queer content, QWOCMAP's independent, community-centered approach becomes necessary for survival.

In the film world, producers create ecosystems that make stories possible. By becoming a Producer through our Producers Circle, you're making an investment in collective resilience that can withstand political shifts and funding challenges.

Our goal is to raise $75,000 by June 30 to ensure QWOCMAP can continue this essential work through our 25th anniversary year and beyond.

When they say we shouldn't exist, we make films that document our joy. When they try to erase our histories, we create archives of our resistance. When they cut funding for our stories, we build our own pathways to create.
